Sorry to interrupt the professionals but I am about 14 and I want to get started with a Leopard and I have a few questions.
1. Is there gonna be a show on Long Island (preferably Close to Suffolk County)
2. My buget is tight and I need to know were to get a cheap Vivarium, Leo Gecko, and flooring.
3. WHat kind of florring should I use.
4. I have a Petco and a Elmers animal store near me which might be cheaper.
Thank you for your time

You can do an online search for "New York Reptile Shows" or breeders in New York for show information.
2. My buget is tight and I need to know were to get a cheap Vivarium, Leo Gecko, and flooring.
How cheap is 'cheap'? You can get a 10-gallon aquarium tank for under $10 at places like Walmart or Petco, a screen lid for about $7-8, an under tank heater (UTH) for around $15, and a roll of paper towels for the substrate for about $1. As far as the gecko goes, you may be able to find a healthy one for around $25.
3. WHat kind of florring should I use.
Paper towels for babies and juveniles, and many people are using tiles or slate for flooring.
4. I have a Petco and a Elmers animal store near me which might be cheaper.
I would recommend trying to find a breeder in New York instead of getting a gecko at Petco. I have no idea about Elmers.

I forot Elmers is a mom and pop type of store and I just need to convince my family to use Papertowels for the gecko. I disscused gettin ga UTH cause we like to keep our house cold in the summer so it might help (Around 64 degrees). Also My dayd thinks it will be like 50 dollars for an aquarium.

As far as the petstore...it would depend on the store itself...as far as health goes, you may be able to find a healthy leo at one of the stores...but it's more likely that you'd find one at a reputable dealer. It's also common for petstores to charge more than a breeder would for the same animal...so you'd probably get a better deal from a local breeder.
A tank won't cost $50 unless you get upwards of a 30 gallon tank....which would be ENTIRELY unnecessary for a single leo...a 10 gallon can be sufficient, but a 15 or 20 long would be great...and should cost somewhere in the range of $20-25.
For flooring...a lot of people do use paper towels...I personally prefer tile. It is MUCH more attractive, very easy to keep clean, transmits heat well, and is cheap ($1-2 a tile and probably even cheaper than paper towels in the long run since they pretty much last forever).
Pretty much you should trust what Marcia says...she is very well known in the business and is very trustworthy!

I would suggest getting a 10 gallon at petsmart (I got mine for like $13 CDN!!!) and using the money you save to get fecal tests done.

just a thought...before you go out and buy a tank...I'd suggest checking your local classifieds and possibly e-bay for any used tanks in your area...as well as any yard sales...you'd be surprised what you can find! As far as getting a 10 gallon...I should have mentioned before...many will argue that a 10 gallon is not sufficient...and many will argue that it is. I personally believe that whether a leo can be housed in a 10 gallon or not depends on the leo...also on the setup in the 10 gallon. A very active or very large leo I would absolutely not keep in a 10 gallon...I would also not keep any leo in a 10 gallon with bare minimums...bare minimums being a humid hide, a dry hide, and a water dish. If you end up using a 10 gallon I would recommend making sure that there are a lot of places for the leo to climb around, or even try putting in a second level somewhere. If it comes down to not wanting to mess around with making more surface space for the gecko I would cough up the extra few bucks for a 15 gallon tank to make sure the little one is happy

ok Ya I thought about making a cardboard second level but that would mean having no light on the bottom half. However If I can find a cheap 15 I will but most leos arn't to big right? Only about 8 inches full grown, right? Am i asking to many Questions? Did I just ask if I was asking to many questions?

Now I remember its Selmers Petland not elmers petstore. But any way I think I am gonna go with Selmers cause i remember they have a vet behind the store so If they realy care every pet should go throught the vet before it gose into the store.

As long as you are still in the planning stages, Read as many care sheet as you can and visit as many garage/yard sales as you can.
You can find 10gal and 20 gal tanks for a lot less than at a petshop. They usually need a good cleaning up and disinfecting with a bleach solution but even if they leak, they are perfect for Leo's.
Sometimes you can find a complete reptile setup, tank, lights and even some decorations for a few bucks!!
People are really happy to get rid of them.
Good Luck
