Whoa. Block hours are WAY down for August. 8% fleet wide with a few bases seeing 15% down.

I had to go back and look at historical averages to see if this was business as usual. It’s not. My data only goes back to 2019 but every single August has at least a couple thousand more block hours than the previous July.

I wonder if those poor metrics are having a greater toll than we know? Maybe the rumors swirling about day trips not quite working as planned are true and some changes are coming? Maybe 15 321NEO airplanes are all going down for engine overhaul at once? Doubtful on that one.

Ah yes... Lost 25% seniority and now I am even going to lose more flying that I could possibly get.

I heard from someone at SOC that day trips are a total mess and it isn't going as planned.

You don’t say? I’m not at F9 any longer, but when BB launched this bad “good idea”, it was obvious to me that he was grasping at straws. My personal take is that genius saw that Allegiant was very profitable utilizing that model, and BB needed to do something to try to show investors that he was doing something.

Companies aren’t in business for the sake of being in business. F9 isn’t making any money, and I’d bet it gets clobbered this summer with a big loss. I hope I’m surprised, but I don’t think I will be. Good luck over there dealing with those management fools running the show.

If they grounded the entire fleet for 48 hours, they would have zero lost luggage and no late flights those days.

Even if we have 0 cancellations the rest of the year we cant get to our 99% cancelation metric. I didn’t bother doing the math in the rest. I assume it’s also not attainable now.

You piqued my interest with this one. Rough math im showing:

Aug 24: +49k total block hrs
Aug 23: +47k total block hrs
Aug 22: +39k total block hrs.

If that's total - you have to look at the # of bases during the time.

Close enough. In June and July ‘24 we have/had 55k. We also have 21 more planes than this time last year. 126 vs 147.

oh gotcha. I thought you were talking exclusively about August from years past. I didn’t realize you meant down July->August. My misunderstanding

I definitely had to do a double take when I saw the pairings come out and the totals. Kinda as some mentioned above… “That’s it?!” The next earnings call should be another fun one.
